Presentation of Šaćir Filandra’s Book
Bosniak Politics in the XX Century
Prof. Šaćir Filandra is a sociologist from Bosnia and Herzegovina. He deals with Bosniak-Muslim topics, Bosniak history and identity. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo at the Department of Philosophy and Sociology. He earned his doctorate in the field of contemporary political philosophy. He held the position of the chief and responsible editor of the Sejtarija publishing house from 1994 to 2010, and from 1988 to 1990 chief and responsible editor of the culture magazine Lica in Sarajevo. President of the Bosnian cultural community Preporod from 2001 to 2009. He was a Full Professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Sarajevo since 2008, of which he was the dean from 2010 to 2019. His most significant works include: Bosniak Politics in the 20th Century, Bosniaks after Socialism, Bosniaks and Modernism. He teaches political philosophy. He spent one year at Yale. For the book Bosniak politics in the 20th century, he received an award and recognition from the newspaper Dnevni avaz.

In addition to this lecture during his visit to Belgrade, Professor Filandra will also hold a closed seminar with colleagues from the Institute of European Studies on Bosniak-Serb relations today in the 21st century.
