On Wednesday, April 24, starting at 12:00 p.m., the Institute of European Studies is
organizing a lecture by Amílcar Correia on the topic “Portugal, Democracy and
Journalism”.
Since July 2023, Amílcar Correia has been the editor-in-chief of Público, one of the
best-selling and most influential daily newspapers in Portugal. Before that, in the
period from 2018 to 2023, he held the position of deputy editor-in-chief of this
newspaper, leading the process of its digital transition. As part of his rich three-
decade experience in journalism, he also managed many projects, of which the P3
project, in the form of a web platform dedicated to young adults, on which Público
and the University of Porto worked together, was awarded. His articles were
published in publications such as “Courrier International” and “Africa Today”. He
trained in several American university and media centers. In 2007, he published the
book “The Ballad of Niger and other stories of Africa”.
