On Friday, June 7th, 2024, starting at 12 pm, the Institute for European Studies will host a
lecture by MA Aleksandar Vasiljević on the topic:
“Ecclesiastical Law and Religious Objects Construction – The Process of Globalization”
In the latter half of the 20th century, humanity and civilization found themselves at a crossroads
in their history. Freedom of religion guaranteed by international law forms the basis of discourse
on the globalization of ecclesiastical law. Different models of the relationship between state and
church within EU member states highlight contemporary trends and new goals within the state-
church order.
Using the example of religious objects construction activities in Europe and the world, the trend
of legal borrowing becomes relevant once again. However, today it is aimed at overcoming basic
differences and divisions, as evidenced by the standardization of conditions and limitations of
religious construction. The process of globalization of religious construction is based on global
customary law of building religious objects, which arises from the implementation of various
theoretical and empirical experiences from planning, urbanistic, and construction practices.
