At the time when the world is closely watching the rise of the PR China’s power on the international stage, the mechanisms employed by Beijing to position itself economically and politically in faraway regions attracts particular attention. There is no doubt that, in doing so, the country is led by the principles of voluntary cooperation and mutual benefit. However, there are those who are suspicious of the PR China’s publically proclaimed motives. With that in mind, this study is undoubtedly both helpful and up-to-date, written with scientific precision but also with literary affability for a wider audience. It provides detailed explanations of the various aspects of the PR China’s approach to Europe, and particularly towards the Central and Eastern European region, whose future will largely be shaped by the presence of the most populous country in the world. I sincerely recommend it to the reader’s attention.
