On Thursday, September 26, starting at 12 noon, the Institute of European Studies will
organize a lecture by
Aleksandra Joksimović
THE GEOPOLITICAL POSITION OF THE UNITED KINGDOM AFTER
BREXIT
The lecture will be devoted to the current geopolitical position of London, especially after Brexit,
as well as in the context of the war in Ukraine and in the Middle East, as well as contemporary
bilateral relations between the United Kingdom and Serbia.
Aleksandra Joksimović holds an M.Sc. degree in International Relations. She is a Serbian
diplomat, international relations expert, and former Serbian ambassador to the United Kingdom.
She was born in Belgrade, where she completed her undergraduate studies. In 2006, she earned
her master’s degree from the Department of International Relations at the Faculty of Political
Science in Belgrade, defending a thesis titled, “USA – FRY (Serbia and Montenegro) Relations in
the Process of Lifting Sanctions after October 5, 2000.” Throughout her distinguished career, she
has served in various roles, including member of the Board of Directors of the Center for
Democracy and Reconciliation in South East Europe (2010-2015), Executive Director of Zepter
Group (2008-2018), and member of the Publishing Division of the official journal of the Institute
of International Politics and Economics International Affairs. She was Assistant Minister at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Directorate General of Information and Culture (2001-2004), and
Coordinator of the Module for Information, Press, and Culture Programs at the Diplomatic
Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia and Montenegro. In 2001, she participated
in the U.S. State Department Visitors Program in Public Relations, and in 2004, she completed a
specialization in Strategic Negotiation at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of
Government, USA. She is currently the Director of the Center for Foreign Policy and is a
member of the Serbian Harvard Club and the Serbian Society of Pianists. From 2018 to 2023,
she served as the Serbian Ambassador to the UK. Aleksandra Joksimović is also the author of
several monographs and scholarly articles.
